Movie, Speaker & pitch-in -Speciesism with Mikael Nielsen from Mercy For Animals

I'm so excited to announce this event.  You're not going to want to miss this!

Speciesism is a groundbreaking new movie that will change the way you think about animals.  Be one of the very first people to see it after it's release for this screening!  Watch the trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJYzia6KUbs

Mikael Nielsen is the Eastern Outreach Coordinator for the national animal rights powerhouse organization Mercy For Animals.  He will give a talk titled "Inspiring Compassion: Putting Our Ethics on the Table" about who farmed animals are, with a brief history of animal agriculture, and about what animal agriculture looks like today and what each of us can do to prevent cruelty to farmed animals through our food choices.  Mikael's profile can be found here: http://www.mercyforanimals.org/bio.aspx?bio_id=12

Please bring a vegan dish or snack to share.  Utensils, plates, drinks, etc will be provided.

For anyone that might be interested, I created a one page article entitled "A Baha'i Perspective on Diet and The Treatment of Animals" that was published in the Washington D.C. Vegetarian Society newsletter about 16 years ago. Email me at [masked] if you would like a copy to read.

Did anyone write down the email address of the Baha'i Center that was on the dry erase board?

Really enjoyed hearing what Mikael had to say, and the documentary. "Speciesism." Was very glad I made it despite the bad weather. I learned a few things, and got a new perspective. Thank you Mikael, Joel, and the Baha'i Center.

We had a great time last night. Does anyone know who made that awesome pasta salad? I think it was the same woman who made the delicious oatmeal cookies. I'd love the recipes if you're willing to share.

Not going to make it tonight :( I remembered to RSVP though. Since I am loser and won't be there I am immediately donating $20 to Farm Sanctuary. Hope that eases the blow.

Cool. Or you could donate to mercy for animals since they are providing the speaker tonight.

So sorry for the last minute cancellation. I am sick and was hoping to try to make it. Maybe next time :)

Another reminder that this is still happening tonight. Mikael Nielsen is driving all the way from Chicago so hopefully we can all show him some love and make it to the event! I promise it will be worth it. After the freezing rain and hard work at the protest last night, sitting down to talk about how to help animals in a cozy setting with lots of vegan food is going to be great!

I would love to go, but I don't have a car available. If anyone from the northwest side is going and is willing to give me a ride I would really appreciate it.

This is my first such event and I am excited about learning more about vegetarian meals. I will be in Indy for a convention so this works out great.
