Workshop - How to get your product idea into the marketplace

The Innovators Resource Network in association with  Massachusetts Small Business Development Center Network - Western Regional Office is pleased to announce an upcoming workshop:

How to get your product idea into the marketplace…

The pros and cons of licensing and 7 other creative approaches

So, you want to get your new product idea commercialized… now what? There are many more ways to reach your goal than you may initially think. Join us as we explore some traditional as well as creative business models that may be a good fit for your project.

The fact is that your product concept, cost of development, profit potential, as well as your own risk quotient, are just some of the factors to consider before making a decision on which path to pursue.

Workshop session includes:

•  The pros and cons of licensing, royalty arrangements, direct response, contract manufacturing and other approaches.

•  The challenges to be overcome and development work that typically needs to be completed prior to pursuing each pathway.

•  Licensing from an inventor’s perspective… how to engage in productive discussions with licensees regardless of prior experience.

•  How choosing a preferred path at an early stage can save you time and money and provide a roadmap that expedites your process.

•  Case studies of inventors who beat the odds by getting creative.

•  A first hand account of an inventor who won a lawsuit against a corporation that refused to pay royalties that were owed.

•  ½ hour free one-on-one follow-up consultation with any attendee who would like assistance with their development process.

Please note the following:

1. This event is open to all members of the public, but due to the format of the event, there will be a charge of $35 per guest for the public. Cost is $30 for IRN members in good standing (2013 dues paid). We will be OK with at-the-door payments, but contact us if you wish to pay electronically instead.

2. The date has changed. Notice that this is not our usual first Wednesday of the month. There will not be a first-Wednesday-of-the-month meeting on either February or March due to this special event.
