Dear Interior Designers,
If you have found this Meetup group to be useful, please consider a completely voluntary donation of as little as $1 to keep this group alive.
At present, I am paying the Meetup fees personally, and I can no longer justify it as a part of my personal budget.
As I joined the Meetup.com site when it was still free, and I organise quite a number of groups here, I have at present, a excellent discount arrangement with Meetup.com. The total cost is not extreme, yet it is significant.
As it stands, due to this discount arrangement, if just one or two members from each of the groups makes one donation of $1 per month this would be enough to cover all expenses.
That's it! Just one dollar or two from each group will keep this avenue open.
Therefore, unless members can help to support this group with this very small voluntary donation of AU$1 per month, I will be resigning from the role of organiser of all groups at Meetup.com.
If I resign, however, the new organiser of this group will have to raise 20 times that amount, from just a single group, to cover the Meetup.com fees, as they will not have the benefit of this huge discount.
I would also like to state it is not simply a question of money: As much as everyone enjoys the monthly meetings, from my experience as an organiser, very few people are willing to take on this role and invest the time and energy required to keep a group alive. Consequently, I'm not expecting anyone to take on these roles after me, and therefore the majority of the Melbourne Meetup.com groups will not continue.
Meetup.com calls this payment a "Membership due." I prefer to make it a PURELY VOLUNTARY DONATION.
