SM Integral-Matrix October Meetup

This location is shown only to members

Next month's topic is on INDIVIDUALISM AND COLLECTIVISM based on G. Edward Griffin's work, executed by Stop and Look Productions.

GOT POLITICAL CLARITY?

ARE YOU SURE?

ARE YOU READY TO PAY THE PRICE IF YOU ARE WRONG?

A little research before the polls open seems both reasonable and prudent, doesn't it?

Intro: Individualism and Collectivism

Part 1: The Nature and Origin of Human Rights

Part 2: Group Supremacy

Part 3: Coercion vs. Freedom

Part 4: Equality and Inequality Under the Law

Part 5: The Proper Role of Government

This series of videos suggest that the underlying principle, or meta-principle, we see manifest in politics and government is between the philosophies of individualism and collectivism. We will seek to explore and integrate the truths contained in these SHORT educational films (intro plus 4 parts) with our useful toolkit of integral theory + living awareness for application.

And, as we are a Ken Wilber meetup group, here's a little input from him on: Integral Third-Way Politics
Kenny does a very nice recap of our founding fathers foresight (leading edge for their time), the very real and serious problems of our lack of coherent culture and our population being at different (primarily first-tier) developmental levels, and the inadequate complexity of our political system in representing our diversity, as well as the issues caused by left and right polarization (partial truths that are attractors for identification, and seem to be [thus far] resistant to integration).
He points out that green is slowly beginning to realize that development is real, due to issues with "the square states" (amber/blue, Bible Belt, etc.). The humorous irony to us is that green can see it in the external "other", and remain blind to their own interiors. Ah, the beauty and horror of free will...

"... and all had one to his each..."
The Cheerful Insanity of Giles Giles and Fripp

Feel free to use the message board to get the conversation started, if you wish.
Please keep the writing ON TOPIC if you decide to post (the tug-of-war between individualism and collectivism locally and globally, an integral perspective on all this, etc., NOT who you prefer as the "lesser evil" among our severely limited [elephant or donkey] choices).

All the best,
Jana and Eliot

We will meet where we did the last several times, at the Cafe Restaurant on the furthest end from the museum. On the map it is the most southern point. http://www.getty.edu/....

Have we learned nothing from history? Some people, astoundingly, seem to actually believe the emanations from some politicians cake-holes!!! Let's see, what evidence do we have... no apparent understanding grounded in genealogy... severely biased selective focus... oh my fricken GAWD, it's not THAT vMeme again, is it!?!?!?! LOL!!!

That was hilarious Eliot..and so politically incorrect that Boomeritis is howling at you; so what's new? LOL! Nowadays there are so many party labels (dare 'integral' to become one, YIKES!! Now that's a scary thought!) ...when it all really boils down to this simple polarity; people haven't got a clue and is basic common sense. The synthesis was brilliant at the end and evolved dimensionally (from a line to a circle), beautiful work of Griffin. Thanks to STOPandLOOk for creating the film.

P.S. Eliot, great comment about *learning from history*. I think a big issue why people dissociate from history/genealogy is a pathological bias towards *immanence*. In the new age movement/MGM culture, people (with inadequate zone 2s) interprets BEING in the NOW, as what I am 'feeling' in this moment; which is terribly contracted and narrow. The beautiful thing about thought is that it can transcend the moment and include data from points in time (history) into its perspective.

Maybe we don't learn from history because we are intrinsically stupid. Well, depends how you define stupid, I guess. I am reading a good book: Everyday Survival: Why Smart People Do Stupid Things. We are slow learners. We are on automatic most of the time. Our decisions are mostly intuitive (Blink, a book). Thought is great Jana, but I can learn nothing new from my own thoughts. I can entertain myself to no end, though. :-)

Thanks Radomir, I can't wait to hear more! I'll have the buy that book and make a smart decision to invest in becoming aware of my stupid!LOL! The point I was making was one about the pre-trans fallacy, when stupid is labeled 'cosmic' or even "Kosmic" (which is simply a kosmic disaster). Calling 'stupid' as it is, is so refreshing to hear from you. ;-D Humans are BOTH smart and stupid, but people only want to look at the smart and therefore become more stupid. Cheers to our shared humanity!

It's great to have the space to talk about what is never talked about. To me individualism and collectivism is the greatest battle of our times; the principles of individualism being the triumph of orange that even Wilber doesn't fully go into. Pathological green has unseated this triumph of orange with the Gaia, New Age, environmental, and globalist religion swaying towards the collectivist side, in my opinion. I loved the participation of all members and felt that I learned something from everyone and look forward to the continuing discussion next month. Thanks, y'all.
