Gadgeteer: Bringing Code to Life

  • September 17, 2013 · 6:00 PM

Presentation:
Have you ever wished the object oriented code you write could come alive?  I mean really come alive and join you in the physical world?  Well, it can and I'll show you how to take what you know as a programmer and build actual physical beings using the Gadgeteer prototyping platform that interact with their environment.  No soldering irons required!

Speaker Bio:(Ian Lee)I've been writing code long enough that simply moving pixels & bits is no longer enough.  So, these days I spend my nights bringing code to life using physical devices.  I'm a Maker with a passion for microcontrollers and electronics and as the founder & president of NashMicro, I try to bring like-minded folks together once a month.  My days are spent as a software engineer at Mercury Intermedia where I get the pleasure of helping build awesome, award winning mobile apps.  I'm also a contributing blogger for MAKE magazine and I document my personal projects on my blog.  You can follow me on Twitter as @ianlee74 and for up to the minute news on Gadgeteer follow my @gadgeteeri tweets.

Thanks for the demonstration! Definitely going to go check out the exhibits this weekend at the science center! Do you have the website for the parts you were talking about? Also, do you have any good web resources for guidance?

    thanks again!

This makes a heart-broken kid very happy! The kid is me, grew up making stuff. Stopped when Dad moved out. I'm back!

I have night class every Tuesday, but this meetup looks extra fly! Will it be recorded somewhere? What object-oriented language will you be in?

The demos will be in C#. I'll try to have it recorded if ID isn't planning to already.
