Partners International's Software Services Division produces project management software and provides custom software development services to non-profit organizations working in the international development, relief and humanitarian assistance sectors. The Director, Quality Assurance, Software Services Division leads the development, implementation, maintenance and monitoring of divisional standards and project specific plans for software user experience (accessibility, internationalization, usability, and user interface design), testing, and acceptance testing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Test and evaluate the usability of Partners International software applications.
  • Make practical recommendations that significantly improve the user interface, application work flow, and user experience within Partners International software applications.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of software usability best practices and testing procedures for Partners International internal use.
  • Implement cost-effective, proven software testing techniques including test plans, test cases and test data.
  • Collaborate with project teams to define a solution that meets client requirements and QA standards.
  • Perform analysis of client data and processes to understand user requirements.
  • Identify sources of quality problems, develop and evaluate the effects of proposed changes to processes and procedures in eliminating quality problems.
  • Investigate, recommend, and manage the use of software tools to support the usability and quality assurance processes.
  • Support the sales process and other job-related duties as necessary.

Requirements:

  • 5 + years experience in usability for the software industry, preferably for enterprise software development.
  • A strong track record of successfully delivering web-based applications.
  • Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills combined with an ability to prioritize demands.
  • Ability to wear many hats and to think creatively and broadly to enable and implement a project.
  • Extensive and demonstrable experience with usability studies, prototyping, and deployment.
  • Experience working with software architects, developers, testers, technical writers, and clients.
  • A thorough understanding of a variety of software development processes, and how to improve usability in small steps as development progresses.
  • A willingness to share knowledge and learn from others.
