Garden of Innocence Wood Cremation Urn Building Workshop

  • Aug 17, 2014 · 10:00 AM
  • Marsh & Regina's House

The Garden of Innocence is an organization that provides interment services for abandoned babies who do not survive. They have a need for cremation urns and caskets. At this workshop, we'll make an assembly line and build as many cremation urns as we are able. I think two per person is a realistic goal.

Below is a video of how to build the urn. I have all the tools and will buy lumber with your donations to this effort. In the video, they paint the urn. Ours will be left bare so as to show the imperfections of the wood. This was requested by Garden of Innocence. Surplus funds will be used to ship the urns to Garden of Innocence in Vista, CA.

More information on the Garden of Innocence can be found at their web site...

Great cause, easy project and a lot of fun! We should definitely do it again, maybe annually, semi-annually, or quarterly?

On the bright side, the need isn't that great. The urns we made should last them a couple of years.

Wonderful bright side news! I was looking at their California map and they are expanding to other cities from San Diego and planning a national expansion. Hopefully, they will let us know if their needs increase.

I received a thank you card today. They have invited us to submit a name for them to use in a service at some future date. Any suggestion?

Marsh - do you still need help, setting up, making jigs, pre-cutting parts? Let me know - I'm pretty available the rest of this week any time after Weds. noon.

I could use more help at the workshop, but I the we're set with all the pre planning.
