Bike Light Building Workshop

This location is shown only to members

Come on out and join the crew to build yourself a very high quality 10 watt bike lite that will burn over 2 hours on a charge for under $30.00! The more people who participate, the lower the price will be.
No experience is necessary. We'll find something for you to do. Everyone pays the same price. Everyone gets the same thing and here it is....

  • 1 each high quality 10 watt bike light that will attach to your helmet or handlebars with a velcro strap(strap included).
  • 1 each 3200 mAh battery pack
  • 1 each battery charger

All of this is brand new equipment purchased especially for this project.

Useful skills for this project are...

  • Soldering
  • Drilling
  • Cutting
  • Sewing (the battery will hang from your frame by velcro in a nylon bag)
  • Cleanup
  • Snack preparation

See a photo essay of the project here.

Marsh, Are we going to shrink wrap the batteries at the workshop or is this on our own? Also, if I wanted to buy/build a couple of these things, is that in the cards? Phred

I'm having trouble finding shrinkwrap large enough. I know it's out there. In any case we will find a way to securly encapsulate the battery pack to protect it from damage and short circuit.
It is no problem to buy in for more than one unit.
This light remains cool enough to touch, even after buring for 30 minutes.

Are you using shrink tube? What size do you need?

The battery pack is 1/4" larger than an Altoid box in all three dimensions, so that's how large we need the heat shrink. I would say 5" to 6" diameter.
