Wifi Modules?

Following on a discussion from last night, we were wondering on the high price of Wifi modules for embedded devices e.g. an arduino

The cheapest I can find is the WizNet WizFi210 module for £24.28

Does anyone know of cheaper options? I can see a few in the US but then the postage is restrictive.

We wondered if it was possible to use a cheap USB Wifi Dongle? Am I right in thinking that that's going to require a lot of coding to reproduce the drivers?

Here's another one in same price bracket

WiFly RN-171 at £26.18

Would be nice to have something down in the £10 price bracket but I think that might be over optomistic

Woo hoo, I've found a much cheaper module.

The Taiyo Yuden WYSBCVGXA is in the order of £12 each. The ONLY issue is the £200+ development board and cryptic data sheet.
