Welcome Jeff, Great catch on the last question, I should really change that to sing, not perform, perform sounds too formal (and stressful). :) It is great that you are pushing outside your comfort area. I hope we'll see you soon and that you enjoy the singing. Cheers, Nick
Hi, Jeff! Come contra dance in Hayward this Sunday (16th) from 4 to 7pm ... a great band is coming up from Monterey and we have a wonderful caller to help everyone have a great time. It's at 1808 B Street, Hayward.
This is a Meetup group for everyone in the San Francisco Bay Area Irish dance community. If you are already a dancer, you should join this group to get updates on upcoming events and stay in touch with other dancers.
If you are not yet a dancer but are curious, join this group for the easiest way to get started!
Set dancing is fun and easy to learn; this is not the performance style dancing you may have seen on "Riverdance." It is a social form of folk dancing that is very beginner friendly, but is also engaging enough to appeal to experienced dancers. So whether you are an experienced dancer looking to try something new, or an absolute beginner who wants to give dancing a try, this group may be for you.
The dances are taught by well-known instructor Michael Murphy, whose teaching is welcoming, inclusive and entertaining. No partner is required -- you will find one there! We recommend low heeled comfortable shoes.
