I wanted to let you know about a few changes to our group. One of our members, Kim, is taking over the daily running of this group. From now on, messages and scheduling will come from her.
There will be two more Wednesdays in Redwood City at Angelica's in October. After that, we will no longer alternate between Angelica's and Lilly Mac's. Instead, we will meet only at Lilly Mac's in Sunnyvale, and it will be on every Tuesday.
For all the Wednesday-only people who may feel disappointed by this news, Michael Murphy does have it in mind to host special events occasionally on Wednesdays, so we won't be entirely out of touch.
This is a Meetup group for everyone in the San Francisco Bay Area Irish dance community. If you are already a dancer, you should join this group to get updates on upcoming events and stay in touch with other dancers.
If you are not yet a dancer but are curious, join this group for the easiest way to get started!
Set dancing is fun and easy to learn; this is not the performance style dancing you may have seen on "Riverdance." It is a social form of folk dancing that is very beginner friendly, but is also engaging enough to appeal to experienced dancers. So whether you are an experienced dancer looking to try something new, or an absolute beginner who wants to give dancing a try, this group may be for you.
The dances are taught by well-known instructor Michael Murphy, whose teaching is welcoming, inclusive and entertaining. No partner is required -- you will find one there! We recommend low heeled comfortable shoes.
