I'd just like to remind everyone once again that the RSVP numbers you see on the meetup site do not actually reflect the numbers of people who actually show up every week. So if you see zero, 1 or 2 RSVPs, it does not mean that no one will be there. Many of our regular attendees are not actually members on Meetup, and even those of us on Meetup don't often RSVP, but still show up anyway. We had a good crowd last week and hopefully we'll see that again tomorrow.
This is a Meetup group for everyone in the San Francisco Bay Area Irish dance community. If you are already a dancer, you should join this group to get updates on upcoming events and stay in touch with other dancers.
If you are not yet a dancer but are curious, join this group for the easiest way to get started!
Set dancing is fun and easy to learn; this is not the performance style dancing you may have seen on "Riverdance." It is a social form of folk dancing that is very beginner friendly, but is also engaging enough to appeal to experienced dancers. So whether you are an experienced dancer looking to try something new, or an absolute beginner who wants to give dancing a try, this group may be for you.
The dances are taught by well-known instructor Michael Murphy, whose teaching is welcoming, inclusive and entertaining. No partner is required -- you will find one there! We recommend low heeled comfortable shoes.
