This year it looks like some cuban food will be on the menu including a stew made with salt beef, beef, pork and chicken and lots of provisions! I've also been told that there will be cow foot on the menu done in a very tasty spicy manner. There also could be Guava tart for pudding. All to be confirmed but rest assured there will be a great variety of meat and vegetables on the buffet table!

Oh, the price is ridiculously cheap Adults £15.00 Children £5.00

I will be there to greet you wearing my Meetup badge and maybe my Meetup Tee shirt!

Also major props to Kester who organised the evening. And also thanks to thode who did all the cooking. It just goes to show that you don't have to go to a commercial venue to have a good time.

A big thank you for those that came tonight. I hope you enjoyed the food and the live entertainment. Sorry for being such absent host but I was very busy and there seemed an endless number of things to do!

I'm still in the hall tidying and cleaning up. Fortunately there is a small army of volunteers helping. I'll upload some pics later.

    Hi Frank,
So sorry, can't make it this evening. Babysitter has just let me down! :(
Would you like me to re-open the RSVPs, just in case anyone can make it last minute?

    • The Legendary F.

Sorry to hear that. These things happen. I'm going to keep the RSVPs closed as we are now fully booked.

    Please? Please? :-))

The puddings are announced! Cuban Style Guava Bread Pudding flavoured with rum and freshly ground spices, raisins etc with ice cream. This is mega calories and some sessions at the gym are recommended

    or

Rum Cheesecake (I've tasted this before at a High Commission do. When it says rum, it means rum - it's addictive!) with ice cream

    or

Fresh Fruit Salad with Ice Cream. Just as delicious as the other two but lighter.

Hi Frank (and everyone) - profuse apologies, I'll not be able to make it on Saturday. Got my dates mixed-up; not in London this weekend. Enjoy what sounds like a very special evening and I look forward to joining you at the next event.

Thanks for letting me know in time, Christopher. I also sometimes get my dates mixed up like once I turned up at a pub only to be told the meetup was the following Monday!

It should be a great evening where the food is the star plus some entertainment as well.

I have to close the RSVP list now as it appears most tickets have been taken. I have reserved tickets for all those who have replied yes to the RSVP but please if you cannot make it then let me know today otherwise I will have to pay for any tickets unsold which is fair enough as I reserved them based on the RSVPs.

Another confirmed dish for Saturday evening!

    Ajiaco Cubano

This is a hearty stew made with pork, chicken, beef, salt beef, white yam, yellow yam, green plantains, ripe plantains, cassava, pumpkin and I think a few other things!

If anyone is not going to the Caribbean Evening this Saturday could you let me know as soon as possible as I have reserved the tickets. If there are no shows on the night and I can't find people to replace them then I will have to pay for them as I reserved them, if you get my drift.

First dish to be confirmed is Jerk Pork made with 15+ ingredients and NOT out of a bottle or packet. Spices will be freshly ground and herbs and seasonings freshly chopped.

HI Chantelle, hope u are well, can you advise what is the nearest station/tube to St Mary's Community Hall, I live in Kent so coming from a long way... however this sounds like a great evening that I wouldn't mind attending and meetin u lovely people :)

    September 30, 2013

    • The Legendary F.

Sorry for late response Delores. I've been abroad for the past 11 days.

The nearest tube station is Hanger Lane on the Central Line. Take S2 exit from the subway using the steps and not the ramp. Walk down past the Belgravia Restaurant which is on your right past some shops and then down the North Circular Road until you reach Brentmead Gardens which is fourth on the right. The church is about halfway up the street on the left. See map https://maps.google.co...

I'm going to put up some more details soon.
