We're watching Reality, a 2012 Italian film set in the world of reality TV. The movie follows a fishmonger from Naples intent on landing a spot on Grande Fratello

The screenplay for Reality is based on a true story. Director Matteo Garrone called it a "simple working-class tale" not intended to be a political statement. The film won the Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival.

Actor Aniello Arena, who plays the lead role of Luciano, is a former hitman for the mafia who was convicted and served (is serving still? boh) 20 years in prison.

I am a beginner - beginner in Italian but would like to attend functions/meetings/etc to learn more. I was unable to attend the movie yesterday, but am interested in knowing when the next event is happening. Thanks!

Sorry, but I won't be able to attend this time. My husband needed to go to work and I'll be watching my daughter. Hopefully next time!

I am so sorry, today I can't join the group because I didn't find an apartment yet so this noon I have to visit few places...

Funny asude: I Googled "belin" and it translated as "crikey". So dialect-to-dialect must be a new function!

Belin sarebbe più che un piacere. N.B for the U.S readers: Belin is a tipical expression of Genova's dialect, it's typically used with tone collegiate, friendly and familiar in various contexts. In this case it's like "Cool"

Somebody take notes. ;-). I just got a call that a load of 4 greyhounds is due to arrive from Alabama at one o'clock so I will miss the film.

FYI (since the topic is Italian movies): If you have Time Warner Cable, there are a couple of films available: Oscar-winner "The Great Beauty" and "Without Pity." The latter is Free On Demand (channel 1400), under TCM. I had never heard of it.
