My wife, Judy, and I are both of Italian lineage. I have many cugini in Piacenza and Rivergaro that we visit and Skype. Sadly, we have lost track of Judy's cugini in Modena and Napoli. We want to improve our Italian for our next trip to Italy.
The Group is terrific. I do believe that we should learn exactly what the majority would like to achieve at the meetings. For example, do they want the emphasis to be on speaking Italian or would they prefer to simply talk about Italy and Italian culture? If the group has several objectives then we need to structure the meetings to accomplish as many as possible. For example, perhaps we devote a half hour to the language, a half hour to discussing culture, a half hour to talking about travel to Italy including the protocol at hotels, restaurants, shopping and much more. There is tremendous potential here, but time management is very important if we are to accomplish the most important group objectives.
