The NYC Japanese Language September Meetup - "bonodori taikai" (盆踊り大会)

Regardless of the rain, we are still having the event. The location of bonodori will be indoor. You can find out which room at the reception desk. The BBQ later will be still in patio, also we have indoor seating next to it. Looking forward to seeing you!

The J-Meetup "Natsu matsuri" is on Labor Day, September 2nd. We will have fun Japanese language game, "Bonodori" workshop, BBQ, J-Pop music, and more.

Mari Miyamoto from 日本語で遊ぼう!- Japanese language Improv. will be teaching us "Bonodori" from her hometown Kumamoto prefecture.  http://www.hinokunimatsuri.jp/ 

This is a non-alcohol event, so you can bring your children. Also, the people under 21 years old are welcome.

Date & Time: Labor Day, Monday, September 2nd. Door opens at 4:30 pm.

Schedule: 5:00 pm -language game and bonodori, 7:00 pm -BBQ and mingling, and 9:00  to 10:00 pm -Stand-up comedy in the lounge downstairs at the hostel.

Admission: $17 per person if you pay by Paypal by September 1st. $20 at the door. 

The admission covers for the participation in the language game and "bonodori" lesson, mingling, BBQ (a burger or two hot dogs, chips, soda, and tabehoudai-salad) and stand-up comedy. Also, you will get "Omiyage" shown below from Kumamoto Prefecture.

Attire: Yukata or any other outfit for "Natsu matsuri"

    We are still having BBQ and bonodori event today. Just come to hosteling international and you will be guided to the new indoor location. We will move later to patio for BBQ with indoor seating.
