The English Japanese language meetup is on the second Tuesday of each month, UPSTAIRS at the Slug and Lettuce. 日英ミートアップパーティー　～定期イベントのお知らせ～日本語で：http://www.eigokai.co.uk This is from 19:00 to 23:00. It's close to Leicester Square and China town. There is good space to chat to people in Japanese and English. It is very informal but all are there to chat. The pub is on Lisle Street which is off the bottom end of Wardour Street (near O Neils, Won Kei and just South of China Town's Gerrard Street). Lisle Street is on the corner where Waxy's Little Sister (pub) is.

Does one need to be fluent in Japanese to go?
My Japanese used to be fluent when I was younger but is just begginner/intermediate level now..

  Hi Teresa, the event is very informal and there are people of all levels (plus a good Japanese/non Japanese match). You can speak as much or as little Japanese as you like. Cheers, Paul

I have been going for almost 1 year now and as always it's very lively and exciting with a good mix of people. I have made some amazing close friends and continue to meet amazing people. This is the best Japanese language exchange and socialising event I have ever been to :)

  Hi Karulik, it's usually a pretty wide age range, maybe 18 up to 50. Should be plenty of people your age, usually around 100 people turn up (though it's a bit quieter up to 8:30 or so. Hope to see you on Tuesday, cheers, Paul

My Japanese has unfortunately dwindled down the drain, figure I will come either way to unwind after a day of cityscape drawing. If anyone is an artist/illustrator let me know, will be nice meeting you regardless of nationality :)
