While normal Japanese food is a treat, homemade Japanese food will be an event; indeed, that is in this vain that we have decided upon this meetup. A few of our native members have decided to produce some of the infamous fermented soybean dish known as natto.
Now, I know what you're thinking, probably something along the lines of “Natto!?”. Let me tell you, that is exactly what this is. There are three types of people, those who know what natto is and have tasted it, those who know what natto is and have not tasted it, and those who are ignorant to its existence.
If you are in the latter two groups of people, then let me explain something to you. Natto is one of the healthiest foods in the world, this stuff will lower your cholesterol, prevent blood clotting, give you tons of vitamins, and serve as an excellent protein source. The benefit of these beans are so well, there's a full section in the encyclopedia of wikipedia covering its effects on health.
By participating this event of Japanese cuisine, you will be taking part in a Japanese tradition reaching as far back as the Edo period. To stay ignorant of this tradition would be to abstain from the food of Japan itself. So join us and prepare for your eventual homecoming to Japan! While other foreigners are content to be mediocre, you will stay above the rest with your exquisite knowledge of the Japanese. You will take one more step away from your label as a gaijin!
This event is being hosted by our very own member, Mike, at his apartment. As such I must regrettably limit this event to 7 persons.
