I have almost a year of Japanese study behind me. I'm probably able to pass the JLPT Level 5 with relative ease, but I will not be able to take it this year due to my studies. I can read over 300+ kanji and carry on very basic conversation.
Japan to me is a land of opposites. The quiet, peaceful, almost austere nature of it's shrines, gardens, and other national treasures and the crazy, eclectic, and vibrant design of it's more urban locales is very appealing to me. Also, like a lot of men my age, I grew up on a steady diet of Japanese video games and anime. The food's also pretty great. :)
I just visited Japan for two weeks in August of this year! I stayed mostly in the Tokyo area, but also saw Kamakura, and hiked to the summit of Mount Fuji for goraiko!
Hajimemashite! Watashi wa Sean desu. Yoroshiku onegai shimasu. I've recently begun learning to read/write Japanese and but still need a place to practice speaking it. I look forward to meeting you all!
