About Our Events
So what kind of events does the Phoenix Japanese Language and Culture Meetup hold? Who plans the events? How do I suggest an event? Can I host or organize an event?
These are all great questions! It is pretty simple. Here is how it works. Our Meetup is run by volunteer organizers. Each volunteer organizer tends to arrange events that match their interests and the free time that they have.
Do you have a new idea for an event? Great! We love new event ideas! You can communicate your idea to organizers by talking to them about it (preferably at an event in person!), meetup email, posting to the
discussion board or posting to Suggest a Meetup.
Please remember though, that all organizers live normal, busy lives and have their own interests so they may or may not run with your idea. In the case where no organizer runs with your idea consider organizing it yourself! Any member can become an organizer, and in fact we are eager to add new, active organizers! There are four types of organizers. An Event Organizer is an organizer of one-time events. Assistants and Co-Organizers plan events regularly. The fourth type, the Organizer, pays the Meetup fee. While anyone can become an organizer, we like to see you participate in a couple of our events first, then we can make you an Event Organizer. After you organize a couple of events as an Event Organizer we can discuss assistant and co-organizer roles.
In particular we would love to have an organizer for a weekly or bi-weekly Japanese conversation group. The group would meet and have discussions in Japanese. This would be an advanced group to complement our
beginning group. Contact the organizer if doing this interests you!
Ok, see you at an event soon!
