One of our fellow Austin Japanese Culture and Language Meetup members is a native Japanese speaker and teaches Japanese to students. She is having a little study abroad session in Tokyo and is looking to fill the last couple of remaining seats. Details follow.
DATE: May 15 - June 1
PLACE: staying in Shibuya, Tokyo
FEE: $1,500 (including lodging, airport transportation fee, lesson fee (about 36 hours equivalent to JPN 412L at UT), daily excursion including Kamakura, Kawagoe, Harajuku, Shinjuku, Tsukiji fish market, Ryogoku Sumo stable visit, Asakusa, Odaiba@water bus, Kichijoji anime museum, Ueno, Roppongi, Shinyokohama ramen museum, Tokyo Sky Tree Tower and Nikko overnight trip. Teaching practicum at a high school in Tokyo, Uchiage at Ninja restaurant, tea ceremony lesson, Wifi Wimax connection, etc.)
I will invite lots of native speakers to the classroom as well as to the excursions, so you will have lots of attention.
Also, if the person is interested, s/he can extend their stay to June 14th to see Kyoto, Kobe, Nara, and Osaka and my good friend can be a host family. In exchange of teaching English for one hour daily, s/he can probably stay there for free.
There is a round-trip air ticket available at $1,177, which will go up very soon.
Please let me know if you know anyone who would be interested.
Please reply to me directly (do not reply-all or reply to mailing list) if you are interested, and I will forward your message to the program coordinator. Serious inquiries only, please; if you cannot provide the financial means or cannot go during that time frame, please do not reply.
