Tutor / weekly meetup?

Hey y'all,

I've been using mostly textfugu, let's learn hirigana, and easy kana. I feel like the best way to learn is from multiple sources so things don't get stagnant. I don't really want to be paying 50$ for an hour of tutoring so I've been thinking about ways to get around it.
If someone would like to barter for lessons I have a lot of hobbies and skills you might find useful. Or, has the meetup ever done an informal weekly thing? what would y'all think about that?

I like the idea of project-based learning. For example, a group writes a short Japanese script together, learns the parts, and then films it. The more Japanese spoken, the better. Learning through using while having fun doing something interesting!
