Japanese Language Practice

This will be our first Meetup in the new location. We will continue to meet on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month. Meetups that fall on a holiday are skipped; following this practice, we skip the 1st Monday in September (due to the holiday) and our next meeting is on 16-September (the 3rd Monday).

Nina here... I had a good time in the beginners group. Enjoyed meeting everyone and learned lots. I will bring my Japanese fashion books again next time for the people who didn't get to spend much time looking. Ttyl. See you all October 7th at the next one!

Anyone know the Japanese word game "Shiritori"? We should so totally play it if we have time tomorrow! If you don't know about it, please look it up!

Then you either get dropped out, or maybe just ask for an answer from someone else, then you can learn words too!

Sugoi! Love learning! Especially since I have vision issues, and would like to learn the language because I have always prefered subs over dubs....that and it would just be cool to know japanese!

Looking forward to this tomorrow evening. I know a little bit, mainly what I have picked up from being a fan of anime, tokusatsu, and the occasional dorama, and movies. Looking forward to being able to increase my language skills, and chat with others!

I have a lot of Japanese fashion books. Should I bring them to share? I know it is not language but I am studying the popular culture of Japan too. The fashion is what started my interest in Japan.

You totally should! I personally would LOVE to see them! And I'm sure everyone else would love to too. We usually have extra time between activities or at the end.

I would like to attend but I need to take the RTA Paratransit to get there s I'm an amputee. After the meeting is there a place I can sit to wait for the bus to pick me up. I have up to a 40 minute wait for my return trip and I cannot stand long?

good question, I hope someone can get back to you... I unfortunately have never gone to a meeting, but if we both go I hope we can say hi :)

  • Zaya

Hi, I'd like to attend the meeting. Is there anything that I need to know to attend?

    September 12, 2013

    • Meghan

No! You just need an interest and will to learn Japanese! If you know hiragana, it makes it easier to read. If not, then that's fine too. Some can't read at all but they are welcome and learn plenty.

I plan on attending, but I'm curious how long the meeting goes for since I've got about an hour commute. Thanks!

    • Jamall

Typically, the meeting lasts about 2 hours. However, this is the first time we're meeting at Mac's books, so we may be able to stay longer if there the store allows it.

    Yes I'm planning to go.

I'm looking for some advice on learning the Japanese language, or possibly a tutor. Do you think this group would help?

    August 19, 2013

    • Meghan

I'll admit this isn't really that one on one, its more of a group with a teacher, though it's really not formal. But if you have a question or want advice, anyone would gladly help you there!

Looking into a way to get there, and once I have, will RSVP, but most likely a resounding 'HAI!'

Not too familiar with Cleveland Heights- where is there parking available for this location?

    July 27, 2013

    • Craig

There is metered parking in the garage and lot across the street from the venue. If you have attended our previous meetings at Coventry Library-- you can park as you did then (the walk from the Library to Mac's Backs Books is only about 1 block).
