Gendai Japan:
Two Films From Modern Day Japan

Wednesday, March 17;
6:00 PM West Oaks,
Alamo Draft House
The Japanese Consulate and the Alamo Draft House are working together to have an amazing night of new Japanese Cinema.
Film 1) School Days with Pigs (6:30 - 8:15 PM) is a touching real story about an Elementary school teacher who decides to teach his students about the life of a pig from piglet to dinner. The students bond with the pig named "P-chan" and come to face difficult questions about the P-chan's Fate.
Film 2) Tokyo Sonata (8:30 - 10:00 PM) is darker film set in contemporary Japan and features a seemingly normal family that unravels from the inside out.
In the hands of world famous director Kiyoshi Kurosawa, known for his thrillers and movies of suspense, this story probes the dark side of human nature and the social problems that confront contemporary Japan. Kurosawa s portrayal of the breakdown and redemption of Japan s ordinary family is every bit as gripping as his previous works.
Films are free admission. Come for one or stay for both!
Alamo Draft House has a unique movie experience where you can dine-in as you watch!
This special Japanese Film event will be complimented by a special menu of Japanese food from local restaurants!
Come to watch, come to eat!
