Aside from performances, there will also be a bonsai tree exhibit hosted by Suncoast Bonsai Society  and an ikebana exhibit hosted by Ikebana International Chapter 65.

There is NO charge to get in and everyone is welcome. Our goal is to bridge the gap between Western and Japanese cultures and increase global awareness and diversity to the Tampa Bay community. This year’s A Night in Tokyo will be held on Saturday, November 9th 2013 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM EST at the University of South Florida’s Marshall Student Center Ballroom.

Food will be generously provided by Takara Sushi & Sake Lounge

Other notable sponsors include YesStyle.com and Anarchist Closet

We thank all sponsors from the bottom of our hearts. A Night in Tokyo would not be possible if it were not for each of their generous contributions.

Stay tuned for more updates. If you would like to sponsor the event and gain media and P.R. branding in the Japanese community and the USF Campus, message us on Facebook or email us at [masked].

Just a heads up for people that might be late (taken from Facebook event page) or didn't RSVP:

PLEASE BRING A PRINTED OR A DIGITAL COPY OF YOUR EVENTBRITE TICKET(S) IF YOU HAVE RSVP'd.

    >>>IMPORTANT<<<
It is highly recommended that you show up early. There are no assigned seating arrangements; therefore seating is on a first come, first serve basis. Doors will open at 5:30 PM. At promptly 5:55 PM, reservation loses priority and doors will open to those without reservations.

UPDATE: There are NO more RSVP spots available on eventbrite. However, that does not mean you still can not attend! Just show up at the door on Saturday! So I might show up a little early and see if I can get in :)

    What is the dressed code?

    November 9, 2013

    • Esther (.

I'm guessing business casual would be fine--just no sweats or ragged jeans. I imagine there will be some people in t-shirts since the club sold them as a fund raiser for this event.

My 1st event...will there be food?

    November 8, 2013

    • Esther (.

Yes. I don't know what is on the menu though.

Are they selling any typical Japanese items?

    November 2, 2013

    • Esther (.

I don't think any of the participants are vendors...but the ikebana group will be there and they sometimes have a "Ginza" sales table at their meetings. They import a few things when they're buying their ikebana containers from the trading company out in California. So...maybe...but I wouldn't count on it.

P.S. I thought I answered this before...but it looks like my comment disappeared. So please forgive my duplication if both comments are visible to some of you.

Hi All!! My son and I are planning to attend tomorrows' event. We're taking the bus cause I can't drive. I'm married and my husband drives.
We have two sons, the other one is autistic and by the time the event is over(that's when my other son is sleeping)so he can't be left alone. it's going to be dark at that time. So I was wondering if there was anyone that is going to be there live in the Citrus Park/Plantation area can give my son and I a ride home?
    Thanks in advance.

For those of you who made your reservation: You should have gotten an email right after you registered with a subject line of "Your Tickets for A Night in Tokyo 4." There's a link in that email to download paper tickets, or you can put them on your mobile device.

Was kind of unsure whether or not I could make it and now the seats are sold out! I'm guessing there won't be any additional tickets available?

We are from Argentina and teach Argentine tango. At the end of the month we will be teaching in Japan and would like to learn as much as we can so we don't miss anything... :D
