Hello! I'm Amanda. I'm currently attending USF and working towards a B.A. in Biology. I love languages. I'm currently learning Spanish, Japanese, and Korean.
I cannot speak Japanese as of yet. I am just starting out to learn the language right now.
I've never visited or lived in Japan. I hope to visit there in the future though.
I like the Japanese language, mangas, anime, and culture.
This is a club worth joining. You will meet lots of new and interesting people and become motivated to study! I'm glad I joined.

Hi Amanda, long time no see!
I'm still taking the online Japanese classes with TM. I have started using the book "Japanese For Everyone" for learning on my own.
And you? Did you master all the hiragana, including dakuten? :D
Hi, Amanda! I'm Megumi.
are you going to the Japanese festival this Sunday? If so, we can meet there!
I'm lokking foward to meeting you and enjoying together:)
see you!
Hi Amanda,
Yes, I made it to the last meeting. Game Academy was packed, so we ended up at Sake House.
First we had some sake and ate sushi, yakitori, teriyaki, etc.
Then we played a Japanese word game. It was quite interesting and fun.
Esther is planning to play the same game on Sep 16. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it then.
See you around.
Hi Amanda,
Glad you could come to the 勉強会. You and Susan did very well in the hiragana game that we all played!
You seem to know most of the hiragana symbols.
What you ought to do now: think back on the ones that you didn't get and review those.
I think that soon you should get hiragana "down pat" :)
Hi Amanda, my Japanese is coming along :-) I subscribed to a website recommended by a friend and now I make myself study 3-4 days a week!!!
I also bought a couple of kanji books and I am slowly learning a few characters.
As you learn hiragana, and then katakana, try learning just one or two rows at a time. If possible, find a free website that shows you how to write each character. Seeing the character being drawn on the screen helps a lot in memorizing it. Good luck!
Hi Amanda! Did you go to the Mahjong meetup?
As you probably noticed, I haven't showed up to any Benkyou Kai lately... too busy. Will go to the Tsudoi in August and probably to the mid-August Benkyou Kai. Are you still learning hiragana? How about katakana? :-)
Hi Amanda! Thanks for replying to my greeting. Don't worry about your typo :D I understood what you meant.
It's great that you want to teach yourself Japanese. I think it's important to practice as much as possible, even saying simple things like "korewa te-buru desu", "arewa isu desu".
I am hoping that we all can start having some simple conversations at the next Benkyou Kai :)
matane! (sorry, I don't have Japanese keyboard installed on this computer) ^_^
アマンダ こんにちは! Hi Amanda!
どうぞ よろしく。 It was nice to meet you.
Good luck with studying Japanese. Take things one step at a time and soon you'll be learning a lot. Good luck. がんばって!
Hi Amanda! Welcome to the Tampa Japanese Meetup. Your introduction answered my major question regarding the Benkyou Kai...I was wondering about your level. Well, we'll try to get you primed for Nozu-sensei and Ohtani-sensei (USF Japanese teachers).
