Back to the usual haunt :D.
We'll be at/close to the long tables behind the sales counter. For those who are joining us for the very first time, look out for a meetup label on one of the tables.
I should also add: Japanese nationals who want to practice English and/or Mandarin are of course also welcome :D もちろん、英語と中国語を練習したいと言う日本人の方々も大歓迎！
1) I don't speak any Japanese at all. Can I join?
From past observations and feedback from those in similar situation, most would go away with either boredom or resentment because they were not able to participate in a meaningful way. It really depends on your expectation. If you just want to be able to listen in and get an 'immersion' experience (some people could decide whether they want to go on learning Japanese that way), and are able to just keep an open mind, you might save yourself from some of those negative feelings. Otherwise, the group is open and so is the venue.
That said, however, this is a group where people of various proficiency levels get together to practice speaking Japanese in the real world where we would otherwise not have much opportunities in daily life. Though questions are definitely encouraged, we are not giving free lessons per se. So with the right expectation in mind, I hope you will enjoy your time with us.
2) Is this a free lesson?
This is free, but not a lesson. You are, however, kindly requested to purchase some food or drink from the shop as we are using their space.
3) I have never attended before. What do I need to do?
Just turn up at the venue at the stated time. Bring an open heart and leave your shyness of speaking broken Japanese at home. You may want to consider bringing Japanese learning materials to share.
3pm to 6pm, you can come and leave at any time.
