  • January 25, 2014 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

UPDATE( The place is near Outram MRT Station, its around 7 minutes walk , for people who are familiar with Tea Chapter, its along that stretch and very near a 7 Eleven)

There will be a $10 Food Charge at the front desk,
for alcoholic beverages, its a secondary charge. And please be nice and support the bar by purchasing a drink too :) We are actually booking the place down with no cover charge.

We are expecting some music, light dinner for the night at a location. With some turnout, this time there will be a cover charge (Which we intend to keep it small and this will be announce on a later date after we confirm the venue!)

DON'T WAIT RSVP EARLY! I set a limit to 50 Pax!We will open it up more if there are more people!

EDIT[I think I will seek a Hundred Strong Hall](Edit:Now its 150 :/)

Please do have fun, mingle and say hi to the people around (with or without Japanese!) And just relax!

Dear organisers, I was quite taken aback by what has been happening so far. Having similar prior experiences, I believe I can kind of understand your feelings. Money issue aside first, please chill. I don't think it's worth getting all worked up with people who, in the first place, don't really care and appreciative of your efforts. Else, they would not have even behaved the way they did.

As for the money issue, I guessed it's like what has been mentioned, it will add on to our organisers' workload. Considering that all of you do it as volunteers and out of love for the meetup, I don't think this should be imposed upon you guys any further. May I suggest a confirmation email to be sent by all participants, say, a day prior to the event itself to affirm our attendance? Additional workload will probably be generated again, but at least not as troublesome and sensitive as money issues. Also, people who are keen and appreciative will probably not mind the extra effort? Just a suggestion.

Thanks, Zara. But all those confirmation email may not be helpful too. it all boils down to sense of reliability of individuals. I really thank all of you who are with us, your support & understanding. We had great time, spent time with old frens, made new frens. Will treasure such good memories of celebration. i really thank our Dear Organisers & helpers of this evemt. They hv really put in alot of effort. i feel sorry i didnt help much.

For events that require an outlay of monies upfront, fees should be collected before the rsvp is confirmed. It helps to increase commitment. If there are no-shows, at least the fees are covered. For the no-shows at this event, please mark as no-show instead of "Did not attend"

Just adding my own two cents worth, like leslie said, a small group for a paid event is easy to administer. I've joined other groups whereby they organise events often, and they also don't make money off from it and from their experience, there are also a lot of issue with prepayment. it is possible to get people to pay first before their rsvp is set to yes, but often it is harder to get people to do that , cos usually the events are publicized quite early and most rsvp to restricted amounts events to ensure their seating, but if they have to pay for it way early in advance , even people who would normally appear would not appear.2. People who pre paid and then suddenly cannot make it for various reasons. It happens to all of us, and the refund or seraching for a replacement also takes up time...basically a lot of issues and time wasted. The other option is to hold more events but with smaller groups and maybe an annual one which is bigger and more organisers can chip in to help

Dear organisers, you guys had been great and all the attendees had been a blast to mingle with! It's unfortunate that there's more than half no-shows. While I understand in any events, tthere'll be a couple of absentees but half the supposed attendees? Sorry people but it's absurd. This is what an RVSP is for, once you confirm it, YOU ATTEND IT. Not attending it shows utter disrespect for your fellow organiseds and attendees. Especially when they had to cover for the now deficit running up to $600. Please do not have the mentality of "I don't know if I can come but let me RVSP first" - it doesn't work that way. It's taxing and ineffective in event organising and extremely unfair to your organisers and people who can't secure a spot.

I do implore for absentees to at least contribute your $10 worth to the organisers because they are COVERING YOUR SUPPOSED FEE. They make no profit from this so at the very least contribute your intended fees. We are in this group together, as ONE

I think you guys have more reasons to be more upset than me because frankly the loss isn't on me. I'm just expressing thoughts that perhaps the organising team can't write blatantly here, diplomatic reasons or something.

Thanks WL. We appreciate your thoughts very much ^^

I guess some member have no idea of commitment for click RSVP meaning there. Organiser make effort for the food. Now have to fork out their own. I think is not fair to those who turn up compare to those virtually RSVP yet never turn up.

Thanks to those who understood how our organisers felt. those adults who were no show & silent, are really shameless & coward. you make others pay for your absense & not even a word of apology or thanks. if this was the way your parents brought you up to be - irresponsible, very sorry for you. it's very unfair for organisers to put up w you & paid for you. it shd be spent on more worthy people & cause!!

It was a superb night for me, thanks so much for the organizers for making this party such a success ! So much effort had been put into organizing and planning this night. I'm really sorry about the deficit because our group organizers have always put in their own effort and money to bring everyone together , yet they now have to worry about monetary problems.
Regardless thanks to all who made it to the party ! It was a pity I could not get to meet and talk to everyone ~

Thank you everyone who turned up yesterday. I hope I didn't manage to spoil your ears with my failed attempt at "Fields of Hope" xD

For those of you who did not manage to turn up, it is indeed a pity that you could not turn up. The organisers placed in a lot of effort for this event, it is indeed also a pity to see that effort not handed to most of you for your enjoyment of the event. But nevertheless, us organisers will still keep working hard no matter what. I hope to see you again in future.

For us who feel the disappointment, I sincerely apologize for this. The organisers are reflecting on how to improve ourselves and our management. I hope that you realise that as a "meetup group" we have come a long way to make this group go on for 10 years! This event spells nothing in stopping us from working harder.

"Fields of hope", my friends. I may not have sung the song well, but even I think I can improve with more practice xD I chose the song for a reason, Hope it reached you.

    Greetings everyone,
I shall be dressing up in my yukata tomorrow. (Yes, the same ol' black / white one that I always wear).

Just givin you all a heads-up just in case you folks need to identify an organiser amongst the huge crowd of awesome Japanese Meetup members tomorrow, though I believe that the other organisers will be far more outstanding/prominent than myself amongst the crowd tomorrow. ^^

My brain is very confused. It says there are 11 spots available for this event but at the same time it says RSVPs are closed. So can I safely make the assumption that RSVPs are closed? Or do I need to do like a rain dance to RSVP for this event?

    January 14, 2014

    • Leslie Kazuki N.

It's closed , it seems that meetup.com have hiccups for the RSVP in this area , I will feedback to them
