2013 Shinnen Nomikai

///////////UPDATE 2 (January 21)/////////////////

Please be advised that the venue has been changed to Cafe Japone. Do not go to Cafe Asia.

////////////UPDATE 1 (January 21)///////////////////////////////////

Hi everyone, I saw the RSVP today and the number is 50. While I am very happy to see so many RSVPs, our past experiences tell us that we are bound to have issues dealing with the check at Cafe Asia since the staff at Cafe Asia do not want to deal with separate checks. So I am trying to contact Kenji San at Cafe Japone to see if we could change the venue to Cafe Japone for tomorrow's nomikai. Nothing is confirmed yet but I will keep you posted.

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

I apologize for the late posting. I tried to work out a deal with the folks at Sorak Garden the usual Yakiniku venue for our Shinnen-kai but the it was near impossible to secure the reservation around this time of the year so we will postpone the Yakiniku nomikai for later and will stay with Cafe Asia this time.

2013 also marks the 10th year since the first nomikai in 2003. Thank you all for being the loyal members and we hope to continue this for another 10 years and beyond!

    Is there a possibility that this meetup, especially at Cafe Japone, could occur every week, or even every two weeks? I thought it was very fun and interesting. I love the aspect of walking around with a drink in my hand talking to any random person.--The table idea is to restrictive.

      Personally I love Japone, but I also feel that rotating between the two locations allows for different atmospheres for different people, while not being too confusing to follow. I'm no group organizer, just an opinionated, long time attendee, and that's my 2cents. :-)

      I completely understand where you are coming from then. It definitely makes sense. Thanks for your input.

    It was great to meet newcomers and as always great to see the usual faces out at Japone! Too bad we had to have the back bar area closed which prevented karaoke fun. Believe me though it will be worth it, as the back bar has had a good bit of renovation done to "sparkle" it up a bit!

    And next time there will be KARAOKE!

    Hi you guys! I just wanted to let you know that I won't be able to make it. I was really looking forward to meeting all of you (it's the first time I would have joined) but something came up and now I can't attend. I hope you have a great time and will definitely join next time.

    Yoroshiku!

    i never understand why people drive to dc. dont you guys know that dc cops love to give tickets. they will even ticket you for nothing sometimes because of the money it puts in their pockets. metro may suck but its still better than the new york subway in terms of safety & efficiency after a certain time. if u are coming from va though i guess u have no other option but driving to dc is not a fun experience most of the time. between all the rules, running out to the meter, & just finding a parking spot it is a bit inconvenient. thats why we have a saying that parking in dc is a b**itch. just fyi

    parking would be on the street, make sure to read the signs carefully and feed the meter until like 9:00pm.
