NO SUSHI! Explore Japanese Cuisine

No Sushi Event Format: Everyone knows about sushi, but let's explore other options in Japanese cuisine at various restaurants throughout the city with a series of Meetups called No Sushi! We're going to try new foods and restaurants you may love or hate - we offer no guarantees about the food. The only thing we can promise is great company.

Our Next Adventure:

Udon is a thick noodle often served in soup. You can read more about udon on Wikipedia. for our next adventure we will try the culinary stylings of Udon West on St Marks Place.

We moved moved to Ramen Setagaya because the wait time at Udon West is too long.

I'll try to be there, but I get out of work at 6 so it might be difficult.

No worries Earl - it's a small place and so getting there a little later works.

Have we done strictly Ramen yet? I don't think we've done ramen yet... There are two places, one in the East Village or one on the upper East Side near the Japan Culture center. What do you think?

There is Hide-chan Ramen on East 52nd St. and then there's the ramen shop right next to Japadog in the East Village. I can't remember the name of that one though...

Does anyone have a particular restaurant or Japanese food to suggest we sample at this meetup?

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
