The Japanese tea ceremony (chado or sado, 'the way of tea') is a traditional ritual influenced by Zen Buddhism in which powdered green tea, or matcha, is ceremonially prepared by a skilled practitioner and served to a small group of guests in a tranquil setting. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Matcha is made from high grade green tea prepared in a grind form. You are drinking the whole leaf which means you are getting the whole goodness of green tea.

EARTH is the source of ceramics, tea's adornment.
METAL is the resource from which kettles are fashioned.
WATER, in its purest form, is the friend of tea
WOOD is the substance from which tea is born
FIRE is the teacher of tea in that it moulds tea's character
during processing and again during its brewing.

Water and fire interact to release the hidden potentials of the leaf.
