Introduction

Hello all. My name's Damani. I spent a few years studying Japanese in college. I try to keep up with the language through podcasts and anime. Roji is one of the finest (and few) examples of real diversity that we have in Syracuse. Support Roji!

Why are you in Syracuse (area) if you don't mind me asking?

I was born here - sorry, there's nothing I can do about the weather :/

What is your interest in Japan? (If you are Japanese, you don't have to answer this one...?)

Japan strikes me as a nation that boldly distinguishes its cultural heritage from the mainstream. While there is still a great deal of cultural diffusion, it's still very easy to identify elements that are uniquely Japanese. I find that interesting.

What level of Japanese do you speak (beginner, intermediate, advance, non-speaker)

I suppose it can still be considered intermediate. I can hold a conversation and decipher words that I don't know from context. I'm not nearly as versed in kanji as I once was. Benkyoshinakya...

Have you been to Japan? / Are you from Japan?

I haven't been there yet, but am planning a trip in the spring or summer of next year. Yatto iku yo!!
