Fall Colors & Wildlife in Colorado

Photo Tour and Digital Photography Training

Limited to 8 Photographers

Alpine lakes, fall colors, and the elk rut await you in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. Join photographer Jason Odell to photograph one of the premier locations in all of Colorado. In addition to going to these great locations, you will receive individual image critique and digital software instruction each day.

When: September 29-October 3, 2013

Where: Estes Park, CO

Nearest Airport: Denver International Airport (DEN), about 2 hour drive time to Estes Park.

Workshop Fee: $949 per photographer

(A deposit of $300 per photographer* reserves your space)

Tuition for this workshop covers all field instruction and classroom sessions, including personal image critique. Meals, transportation, and lodging are not included in the tuition price.  I've reserved a block of rooms at the group hotel in Estes Park at a discounted rate of $119/night; you will be sent further information upon registering.

*Your deposit is non-refundable unless the leader cancels this event.

Who should attend?

This photo safari is open to photographers of all levels. Beginners are welcome! You should, however, have a basic understanding of your camera system.

Health Advisory

Because this workshop will be conducted at high altitudes (9,000' and higher), participants should take caution if they have any known health conditions that would preclude them from going to such elevations. We will not be making long hikes, however you will need to transport your gear up to 1/2 mile (over relatively level paths) in some spots.

Software Training and Image Critique

Each day, we'll have time to download and process our images. I'll guide you through the software techniques I use including color, black & white, and High Dynamic Range Photography. I'll also demonstrate RAW processing and workflow techniques.

About your instructor, Jason P. Odell

Dr. Jason P. Odell is a creative outdoor photographer in Colorado, USA. He specializes in images of wildlife and landscapes presented with a creative flair. Jason's passion for photography started at a young age when his parents built a darkroom in their garage.

Jason is probably best-known for his comprehensive imaging software guides, which he started publishing in 2006 at Luminescence of Nature Press. Jason's guides have taught thousands of photographers how to tackle software like Nikon's Capture NX2 and Nik Software's HDR Efex Pro 2. Jason's ability to present technical material clearly, without losing focus of the creative process is why his books and workshops are extremely popular with hobbyists and enthusiasts world-wide.

Any chance of seeing mountain goats in the new locations?

Not sure, David. There's definitely a chance up on some of the passes, though. I'll be doing a scout trip this weekend and will report back to the group.

I'm in for the new location. Feel bad for all those impacted by the flooding from Boulder to Fort Collins. Will have to return to RMNP some other time.
