The original idea started from idea suggestion page, and now we will cover a range of JavaScript related technologies (node.js, WebSocket, XMPP) which enable you to write exciting and high performance Real Time Web apps using JavaScript.

Craig Webster will talk about introduction to node.js, a server side framework for writing extremely high performance non-blocking event driven network servers in JavaScript. If you don't know about node.js, check this out.

Makoto Inoue will talk about WebSocket, one of new HTMl5 feature which will let you do streaming,push and interactive programming on Web.
This is an interesting technology to use instead of normal Ajax polling, or long polling.
Makoto will also explain how you combine WebSocket and node.js.

Luis Ciprian (visiting all the way from Brazil!!), will talk about Strophe.js, a javascript library for writing XMPP clients on Web. You can do a lot more than online Chat with XMPP.

The door opens at 6:30(New Bamboo will offer some drinks and snacks, so let's mingle!!), and the talk will start around 7pm.

The New Bamboo office is near Exmouth Market. You can walk either from Islington, Farringdon, or take bus 63 from London Kings Cross. Due to the size of the office, places are limited, so please only sign up if you are sure you are coming.
