The role is not about designing or implementing websites, it’s engineering work. This role involves being an integral member of the AdServer team where the platform has a tight coupling between the server-side Java code and the client-side JavaScript and DHTML code. This is a large and complex platform which provides many interesting technical challenges, both from a software solution viewpoint as well as scalability.

Key responsibilities
• Web Development (JavaScript development)
• Debugging (Investigation into client-side bugs and integration issues)
• Optimization (Pro-active approach to identifying and optimising existing code)
• Project Work (To pro-actively deliver project work to improve the product or add functionality as required)
• Code Review (Appraise and advise on other engineers code)

Knowledge, skills and experience
The successful candidate will have a solid experience of web development with an emphasis on cross-browser JavaScript programming. They will be an excellent programmer who has a passion for technology and writing maintainable, reusable code. They will be working on the IntelliTXT AdServer platform which serves billions of pages to over 150 million unique users a month across thousands of partner websites.

It is essential that the candidate can demonstrate they have an excellent working knowledge in the following areas:
• Pure JavaScript (Not Frameworks) with the ability to push browser capabilities and performance to their absolute limits
• Advanced HTML & DOM manipulation
• CSS, All versions, including browser issues and quirks
• Cross browser compatibility Issues for JavaScript, CSS and HTML
• Ability to adapt to changing environments and embrace newer technologies such as HTML5
• Code review JavaScript, HTML & CSS constructively and effectively

The following skills are also considered an advantage in this role:
• Java or other server side languages/frameworks, including Spring, StringTemlpate etc
• Client side testing frameworks such as Jasmine/JSUnit
• Mobile web browser experience
• Google Page Speed/Rank Performance Issues
• Unix environments,
• Databases (MySQL),
• Markup Languages (XML, JSON etc)
• Image Editing/Optimisation
• Agile & Scrum

The successful candidate will work within an international team of developers and is required to demonstrate initiative in order to achieve the team’s goals and in identifying and evaluating new opportunities as they present themselves. The candidate will be working alongside the Java development team and the creative team to ensure that the advertising messages display correctly on our partners’ websites, that interactive adverts behave correctly and that the code is fast and efficient.
