Overview of AngularJS for jQuery Developers

AngularJS is an open-source web application framework, maintained by Google and it's fundamentally different from jQuery. As a front-end developer, it's a good idea to know what kinds of tools are available so you can take advantage of them when solving various problems. Sometimes a jQuery plugin is the best option and other times using a framework can make your life easier. In this presentation, I will go over an overview of AngularJS and show you how to shift from “jQuery mindset” to “AngularJS mindset”.

Presented by: Yuko Miyahara of Fandango

Yuko Miyahara is a senior front-end developer at Fandango. She has been doing web development since 2000 and passionate about code organization, maintainable code, and test-driven development.   Her other passions are art and tai chi – and always looking for ways to make life more playful and peaceful.

I've only just scratched the surface with Angular. I'm interested to see how it stacks up against backbone, node, ember, etc.

What an awesome first jQuery meet up! I'm now eager to dive into Angular for a project or two I have in the pipeline. It was great meeting those I had a chance to interface and I'm looking forward to the next one on the west side. Cheers!

Thank you so much for this talk. I've been a JQuery-head for a while and my company is going over to Angular from Knockout. From what I've already seen Angular is awesome and clean and easy to read, which is what I love about JQuery.
