Game Meetup at Erika's House

  • Oct 6, 2012 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Let's get together for games at Erika and Wayne's house. They have a great collection of board games and social games, but feel free to bring your own too!

Let's all bring snacks, drinks and finger foods as usual. :)This Meetup will be BYOB.

Randy and I will arrive early with chairs and to help set up. Volunteers who can stay a few minutes late to help with cleanup are greatly appreciated!!***

Feel free to note on the Meetup message board if you have any specific requests for games you'd like to see there. It's likely folks will be able to oblige by bringing any games that might not already be there.

Please call me early with any other questions at[masked]-3646. I'm happy to help.

Rich - I've got the games you left behind at the last game meetup. I'll try to drop them over at Erica & Wayne's house before this meetup so since you're going to this one (and I can't make it that night.)

Kevin, I share your opinion also. I can see a +1 or even a +2 on occasion, but I have also seen some +5 or more and that's just ridiculous.
Bryan, as the new guy you need to bring a crapload of beer.
Ok, not really. I'm just a poor teacher looking for fermented beverages. In reality, it is BYOB and a munchie to share. :)
Anyone have game requests? We're bringing Small World and Ticket to Ride so far!

Love how Wayne is on the waiting list for his own house... :)
Anyway, here's the list of what we have again. Let me know if there is anything specific anyone wants to play.

I love small world and ticket to ride Doug! Cant find many people to play small world with me though. Do you have any of the expansions for it? I have several. Which ticket to ride do you have? I have the american and nordic coutries versions. Unfortunately wont make this meetup but hopefully next one.

As for games that will be there:
Wayne and Erika own several including Dominos, Mouse Trap & Abandon Ship (surprisingly fun!), Monkey Lab, Power Grid and several others. I think they also own Dalmuti, which is a mainstay. Other well-liked games that usually make an appearance include Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Anomia, Sequence, etc. Cards Against Humanity has also been very popular lately.

Welcome to the group, Bryan! I seem to have missed the lively discussion of +s with regard to friends and family accompanying member gamers to our meetups, but it seems to have resolved itself. Be assured that it is seldom if ever a problem, especially as folks will usually adjust their RSVPs as needed if a "+" cancels.

    Especially if they don't show/cancel

Yes Doug, we do limit the rsvp's to 2. Thinking that maybe this could be a husband/wife and a friend new to the meetup. This seams reasonable. But then you hope that person would join themselves! +6 would definitely be rediculous!

Bryan, welcome to the meetup group! I am sure you will enjoy it! As for food, what you will find is that most bring stuff like chips and dips and cookies! Great stuff and definitely needed, but it would also be great to have a larger variety of stuff and even some things that are more substantial appetizers! Don't feel like you need to make enough for everyone..... The meets have 30+ people and with some items that would be rather expensive! If you walk in with a great item, everyone will just devour it up quickly and then move onto the other stuff! So the short answer is "be creative"!

Don't be silly Kevin! It is a great point and a good conversation to see what others think us the best way to go about it! I am comfortable in saying that Marie would like everyone to be happy and accommodate as much as possible! Please feel free to bring up any ideas! Sorry if my post sounded that I didn't agree! There are goods and bags for each side... Just wanted to provide some more explanation that might help in the discussion!

y'all tell my friend, Michelle, to join the group so I won't have to RSVP for her! ;)

i apologize for speaking on a opinion that others has brought up in the past. I can ensure everyone I would not do this again. I hope to see all and enjoy everyone company.

I had to change my rsvp to no(had a conflict that I had forgotten about in the excitement). My +1 was my gf, who does not have access to the meetup site at work, and with the speed it fills up wouldnt have been able to find a spot by tonight.

Kevin the settings are set only for allowing each person a maximum of +2. Usually you only see people with +1's because maybe one person of a couple is part of the meetup, therefore they are registering for their "other half". And with the meetups closing so quickly, it is easier for the couples to register as a +1, rather than each person having to sign up and have a risk of the second person being on the waiting list. I do see there are a number of +1's and +2's this time. This time it appears there are "explanations"... Duane's +2 is Sharon (regular) and her sister that is in town. Scott's +1 is MJ (regular), Heather's +2 is Frank (regular) and his daughter (come's often), Doug's +1 is Olivia (regular), Bryan's is his wife. That explains most of them. In most cases Kevin, I would agree with you, BUT it is also fun to get new people introduced to the group and perhaps it is easier to introduce new people as a +1, rather than requiring them to join the meetup first.

Well, as always, the meetup is already full! If you are on the waiting list, don't be discouraged! Spaces always open up the closer it gets. And I will usually open it up for a few more on Wednesday/Thursday before the meetup! Please do be respectful of your RSVP's as you don't want for someone else to not be able to come because you had something that came up and you didn't attend!
