Hi to all!
I'd like to start with a small mea culpa--I've been stretched very thin task and travel wise for the last couple of months, and have been remiss about refreshing the book list, welcoming new members, etc. I'm on a better time footing now and hope to atone.
We're up to forty-nine members, which is quite a substantial crew! I have a proposal for the January meeting--rather than dedicating it to discussing books on the list, we can dedicate it to refreshing the list. To that end, I'd like to ask every member, active, inactive, hibernating, etc., to please either (if you can't make the meeting) send me at least three list suggestions, or if you can make the meeting, please still send me ( using [address removed]) three suggestions and come to the meeting prepared to vote. I'll put together a list of every suggestion I get by Monday evening and post it by midnight.
Engaging, stimulating non-fiction or fiction, widely available. Current or classic, serious or amusing, straighforward or tricky and challenging, bring em on!
Books that may be great but NOT for the list:
?While religion and politics are welcome as topics, anything that is hostile or intense in advocating a particular point of view, not so much
Very important closing note: If you haven't responded for this month's meeting, please take a minute to do so. If you're in the "maybe" camp, please update your response to "yes" or "no" ASAP If you've responded
"yes" please double check your calendar and make sure you're able to come.
