Any and all. From Fusion to BeBop to Gypsy Jazz ... its all good. But if you can bring Pat Matheny - I'll be there in heart beat. Better yet - bring Charlie Mingus (it would not only be great - but a miracle too). But those are certainly two of my favorite musicians. But I have no real "true" favorites - as long as its good - it just depends on my mood what I might prefer at any one moment.
Well - I'm thinking of taking the leap to try and sing (while I play) but haven't made it yet. A little piano (but about to start working on it again). Guitar (in all kinds of styles from Classical, to Flamenco, to Gypsy Jazz, and Jazz, and Bluegrass, Folk, and Rock) - but as with all - I am learning as I go. Also try my hand at Mandolin, Banjo, and Ukelele. Also harmonica. And have a Sax and Trumpet I was working on for a period - till turned back toward guitar (but will return at some point). Most of all - as I said - I am a learner. And I am really trying to learn not only how to play instruments and songs - but also the "language" and "concepts" of music itself. The only down side to my musical abilities, as thus far developed, is I haven't had opportunities to play with others - and am rather shy as it is - but recognize the need to venture out a bit more and join in - in order to both overcome that anxiety as well as reach another level of understanding.
