For all those of our friends who have been waiting for summer to run with us, enjoy the extra sunlight these days and join us on our meetup runs.
Yes, the regular runners are getting better with each run, but still everyone should run with us before it is too late this year .... Most of all, running in a group makes it easier, it is motivation, less effort and fun to run. Don't believe it, try it out! talking and sharing experiences while having a good cardio workout at one of the best Waterfront views in the world!
The most common email/ query we get from new members is
Q1. how fast we run, I am running after a long lay off
Q2. I am a beginner. how much should a beginner run
Ans 1. Our average run pace is 8 or 9 or 10 or 11 or 12 min miles. Runners are good people, they wait for others and loop back if faster.
Ans 2. Beginners should try to finish 1 loop 2.2 miles by running/ walking.
It is our experience and endeavor that no runner is left behind, our members are good people, they wait for each other!
For beginners -- You should increase speed/ distance gradually every week which usually should be <= 10%. So if you are a complete beginner it shall take you up to 8 weeks to do 5 miles comfortably, and within another few weeks to do our weekend long run of 7 miles, and another 8 weeks .... 8 months plus you shall be on course for marathon running .... btw some of us have started this way.
For experienced runners you can run ahead, pace us, run at your own pace, faster or slower, turn back sooner/ later towards the finish etc.
Runners of all age and all athletic abilities are welcome to join us. Hang out with people that can help you along the running path because they are going (have been) through the same experience.
Our current schedule (only rains or slippery surface deter us, we run in wind and snow and cold and light drizzle too)
1. Mondays 6:30 AM, Liberty Park (1 hr)
2. Tuesday 6:30 AM, waterfront Loops (2.2 miles * 2, 30 min * 2)
3. Wednesday 6:30 AM, Liberty Park (1 hr, Basic Plyometric movements and some sprints)
4. Friday 6:30 AM, waterfront Loops (2.2 miles * 2, 30 min * 2)
5.1 Saturday 8:00 AM, waterfront to Hoboken Pier1A and back (1 hr)
5.2 Saturday 9:00 AM, to Liberty Park (long run, 6.5 miles +)
Evenings (we may change route to Hoboken or Liberty Park to run 1 hour)
1. Monday 7:15 PM, waterfront to Hoboken Pier1A and back (1 hr)
2. Wednesday 7:15 PM, waterfront to Hoboken Pier1A and back (1 hr)
