Its that time. Time for a trip with only grown ups.
We do this once a year. A chance to get away, have adult conversations and drink adult beverages without having anyone's little ones there.
We are going up early Friday Morning. Meeting at the Hooters in Hampton at 7am. and on the road to Shoe Creek by 7:30am. If you can't make that, its cool. You are welcome to show up at any time or even come up on Saturday for the trail ride itself and just make a day trip of it.
Saturday we are going to ride the trail around 9-10 am (or later, depending upon when everyone gets motivated.). There is a 1.5 mile hike out to the top of Crabtree Falls that many go on. You don't have to if you don't want to. If you have never done it, I highly recommend it. There are many pictures of it on this site.
i.e. (Spring -2013, Spring -2012, Feb 2010, and many more.
There are several trails at shoe creek and several more a few miles away. SO a lot of fun to be had by all.
After Breakfast on Sunday we head home, but you are welcome to stay and hang out. But I would prefer that you do not do it alone.
I always like to schedule a wrenching party the week before to help anyone who wants to make sure their rig is safe for the trip. If you have gear you want to install, like a bumper, roof rack, etc. we can do that too. there are several mechanics in our club and will be happy to teach you what you want to know. But you don't have to come to one in order to go to the other.
Campsites are open to the public and free. They are first come, first serve. We do require that you bring down the mountain anything you bring up plus any trash that we clean up while we are there.
There is no cell signal, no wifi, and little to no radio reception. And that's how we like it.
We have a great group of people. We have a lot of fun. But we have had individuals in the past who just don't get it.
The bottom line - This trip is about having fun, riding the trails, and staying safe.
Click Here: (FILES) to find directions to Shoe Creek. They are very easy to follow. There is also a lot of other items there that I recommend on that page and one that I require. The release and waiver of liability. Please Print it, sign it and bring a copy for every person attending. I will not leave anyone up on the mountain but I will not be responsible if you act like a jackass and break your rig or get yourself hurt via a stupid act.
So, come on out and have a great time. Hope to see you all there.
