Critical Mass is a group of cyclists that get together for a relaxed cycle through the streets of Johannesburg.
For photography - the idea is for us to car pool and pick a few spots along the cycle route for night time photography. There are generally a couple of hundred cyclists, so this adds to our safety of photographing in the city at night.
At the start on the road. Everyone parks on the streets (unless you have a high risk car like a VW citi golf, there is fenced parking for R20 3 streets from the start)
Suggest we start with the cyclists in Braamfontein and position ourselves on Nelson Mandela Bridge before they set off at 7.
It is not an official ride, meaning the streets will not be closed. Think Bike motorcyclists join to stop cars at the intersections.
3. It is free
10 KM through Fordsburg, stop for drinks/beer in JHB CBD at Arts on Main, 6 KM past Ellis Part stadium, through Hillbrow back to the start.
5. How long?
They leave no one behind so there are stops along the way for the rest to catch up. An hour to the drinks, break for 30 minutes, 45 minutes cycle back to the start.
