March Democratic Speakeasy

The speakeasies are an open forum for anyone to bring up topics on and around the Democratic Party of the United States. Originally set up decades ago as a way for members of DAUK to give themselves an opportunity speak with one another informally outside of meetings and continues to be so to this day.

Anyone can call a speakeasy and everyone is free to speak their minds. US and non US citizens are welcome!

There is going to be a report back on last Sundays DAUK Bi annual leadership election three days ago by one of the candidates for Chair. All are welcome!

The Duke of York is a Sam Smiths pub so as always expect great fresh brewed, housemade Yorkshire ales, stouts and lagers at about 1.75 a pint!

Join us for a lively talk.

See you there!

Democrats Abroad Annual General Meeting
Vote for Wilber Webb!

Democrats Abroad will be meeting in London on March 1st, as they do every two years to decide their leadership. DAUK (as it is known) is the official branch of the Democratic Party in the UK.

I am a member of the council of DAUK and this year I am running for several seats in a chair position. I ask that all of you who have enjoyed the massive community events that I have run off my own back over the last 7 years to please return the favor and reserve Sunday, March the 1st in your diaries and please come out and vote for me. Please spread the word!

If elected I bring with me the capacity to expand the membership of Democrats Abroad with my proven, unrivaled organisational and outreach capacity. I also will organise lots of events to bring people out and have an even stronger sence of Democratic community abroad.

All votes must be cast in person at the AGM meeting, so there is unfortunately no absentee balloting. You should personally RSVP by email (including the number of additional people you are bringing) to secretary@democratsabroad.org.uk by February 15th so as to best gage venue space requirements.

While we love our non American neighbors this meeting is only for U.S. Citizens strictly and it would be ideal if you could bring some proof such as Passport or U.S. Drivers license.

Democrats Abroad is the organization which represents all United States citizens resident outside the United States who wish to adhere to the principles and further the aims of the Democratic Party of the United States of America.

We will all go to the pub afterwards. Please reserve Sunday afternoon 4-6pm, March the 1st in your diary today!

John Edwards has trounced the competition in the Iowa primaries, coming out of it as the leading candidate. John Edwards will be the next President of the United States, but only if you make the effort to make this happen!

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/227/story/23940.html

John Edwards is the man to put America back on the right path and is the candidate most feared as the Democratic opponent by the Republican Party. After 7 years of George Bush and as Americans living abroad we know this more than most!

We are meeting for coffee this Saturday to discuss the victory in Iowa and how we as the official arm of the John Edwards/ One America can move Johns candidacy further forward across Europe with Democrats living abroad.

Come on down to the Nero Cafe nearest to Chancery Lane tube this Saturday; We'll be easy to find as there is only one floor to the coffee shop, we'll have a big John Edwards sign and all of the staff will know where we are. Bring your great ideas and enthusiasm as the floor will be open for discussion.
