Hello all. New to the area and looking to get out and get to know Houston and the surrounding areas.
NEO is a Houston based organization that hosts events and activities in Texas and beyond. NEO kindles a deeper passion for life by connecting people to nature and each other. Our mission is to encourage people to live a more outdoor oriented and social lifestyle to improve quality of life and overall health, wellness, and longevity. NEO is in the process of becoming a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to introducing people to the many benefits of discovering the outdoors and sharing their experiences with others.
Many of our activities are family, kid, and pet friendly! Through our "Kids Unleashed" initiative, NEO encourages kids and families to get off the couch, away from the video games and cell phones, and OUTSIDE. With the help of contributions and donations, NEO hosts events and clinics designed to teach kids necessary skills for enjoying outdoor activities and thriving in the natural world. Kids develop leadership and teamwork skills while learning about water safety, hiking, camping, nature and wildlife, and so much more! They are also introduced to people from all walks of life and from all over the world, giving them a broader understanding of the world and cultures around them.
We love being outdoors! We do a little of everything: hiking, camping, backpacking, cycling, kayaking, rock climbing, and anything else we get the chance to try out. We love to travel and get out of the hustle and bustle of the city. We may do an all day hike at Brazos Bend State Park, camp for the weekend at Pedernales Falls, or do a cool night hike at Memorial Park. You could even find us at Havasupai, one of the most beautiful places in the U.S. or exploring Colorado on a long weekend! Whatever we do, we're going to make some new friends, get some great exercise, and have a blast! We are very laid back and love diversity.
We don't limit our activities to strictly outdoor adventures. The scope of the group has grown as our numbers have grown. We are an eclectic group with many cultural and social interests. We enjoy exploring new experiences that challenge and enrich us such as attending the Hindu Holi Festival, checking out new cuisine, or exploring a new city. If you love to learn, want to be surrounded by friendly people interested in living life to its fullest, want to improve your fitness level and health, and enjoy new and interesting experiences, you have found your home. :-)
