Having just recently begun trying to move my web experience beyond point and click this meetup was perfect! I read a few chapters in a few books and was thinking about becoming overwhelmed but... watching the 90 minutes of demonstration (very well organized and nicely paced) served to make joomla within reach. It was a great demo to familiarize new folks to what to expect when they download joomla for themselves. Thanks for putting this together!

It was fast paced and interesting and covered all the necessary information for me. Hope there will be more!

It went pretty fast... Sam was well prepared and a great speaker and he flew through the material, he had to because there was a lot to cover... We had lots of Joomla newbie’s so I don't know how much they took away from the meeting... We need to find a place where we can more 1 on 1 training versus a 101 class IMHO... I would like for us to hold a JoomlaPack class where we install, backup, and move a joomla site to a 2nd host... I use JoomlaPack but I do it all manually and I make a copy of my site on the same host so I can experiment with new features and work out the bugs... I also think we could make a class on how to get the most out of FileZilla... I use the FileZilla to create 3-4 different profiles for the same site... One to see the whole site, others that drill down to my backup files, or graphic files... That way I don't have to remember where to navigate to...

Just exactly what I was looking for - an overview that would give me a feel for what Joomla was like. I would sign up for follow-on classes that would go into more depth.

The presentor did an excellent job. He broke site development down into several main tasks. This gave me a great overview and an idea where to go from here.
