Virtual - Joomla Basics

Due to the number of new people and beginners, I thought we should have a virtual meeting revisiting the basics.

This is a basic overview of Joomla! and we'll be using Joomla! 2.5. If you're new to Joomla, this session may answer many of your questions. Some people get Joomla! installed and then get stuck on the "What now?" obstacle. This session will introduce you to some of Joomla's basic concepts and help you overcome some of those initial hurdles.

Please sign in 10 minutes early so that any technical issues can be resolved before starting.

To hear the session, you will need either a headset or speakers. (Most laptops have built-in speakers.) Alternatively, you can call in.

Discussions will be via VOIP (Voice Over IP) and chat during the meeting. If you don't have a microphone or a headset, you can still communicate via chat or by calling in. I may mute all others during parts of the presentation, but will open up microphones for questions at various points. This is because of occasional feedback or extraneous noise that can distract others.

Conference link:

When you select the phone icon, you will be presented with two choices: "Join by internet" or "Join by phone". Selecting "Join by internet", will give you a "Connect" button that you must select to connect to the Voice-Over-IP conference online. Select "Join by phone" to see the phone conference information.

Please sign in a few minutes early in order to resolve any technical difficulties.

I enjoyed Wilma's wonderful overview of Joomla. The presentation was clear and thorough and gave me a good grasp of the basics and a preliminary survey of some of the complexities and their functions. Thank you Wilma! Looking forward to our next meeting..

Please note that this session will cover the basics for version 2.5, not the new 3.0. Most will continue to use 2.5 for a while to come.

Would a daytime or weekend virtual session work better for anyone?
