Software Freedom Day 2008 celebration in Frisco this Saturday the 20th

Group Organizer
Mansfield, TX
Software Freedom Day 2008 will be celebrated worldwide this Saturday, September 20. This is a global celebration of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) coordinated by Software Freedom International. The local Ubuntu Group appears to be organizing and running the Software Freedom Day event for the Dallas area. That event starts at 3pm Saturday will be held at the Dave & Buster's in Frisco at 2601 Preston Road, Suite 1200.

Software Freedom Day's purported goal is "to educate the worldwide public about of the benefits of using high quality FOSS in education, in government, at home, and in business." This is a noble goal and many of us in the area are ready and willing to rally behind it but I must admit that I was puzzled by the seeming lack of publicity around this event in DFW, even in the local groups supporting open source software.

If you get the chance this Saturday, drop by the Frisco Dave & Buster's to show your support as well.
