Monthly Joomla! Meetup

We hope to see everyone at the May meeting of the Denver Joomla! User Group. As always, we'll use some time at the beginning for snacks, mingling and networking and then go around the room for introductions before we begin our presentations. If you are planning on attending, please RSVP so we can plan accordingly.

This months presentation topic is a bit more advanced than the topics we've been covering recently. We encourage everyone to attend regardless of skill level and expand your horizons!

Presentation : Bruce Decker : Teaching Joomla New Tricks with Fabrik
Bruce Decker will demonstrate a rich Fabrik application and then he'll walk the group through the steps to create a simple Fabrik app.

Fabrik is a free, open source business application development environment for Joomla.  The new Joomla Extensions Directory will be based in Fabrik.  Fabrik allows you to create powerful and beautiful web applications.  Most applications can be created without knowledge of PHP, HTML or Javascript using Fabrik's built-in tools.  With Fabrik, Joomla can extend far beyond traditional CMS capabilities allowing you to address the unique requirements of nearly any business.

Target Audience:
 - Joomla web designers wishing to understand how to develop custom business applications without coding
 - Joomla developers looking to go beyond the capabilities of Joomla forms packages like Breezing Forms or RS Forms
 - Joomla users interested in understanding the capabilities of Joomla beyond the commonly known CMS features
 - coders interested in understanding how to apply their PHP programming skills within the Joomla framework
 - anyone wanting to gain a better understand of full power of Joomla

=>Please park in front of the Cable Center (facing Buchtel).

=>Then come into the building to get a parking pass.

=>You must return to your car to place the pass on your dashboard.

The parking is free. Sometimes there is an event at the Cable Center that will require us to park in the larger lot to the west, but that is still free, but requires a pass. <=

We look forward to seeing you all and meeting new members!

Bruce and Kim put together an excellent presentation on Fabrik. It was inspiring to see the power it could add to a Joomla site to make the most use of a database. Thank you Bruce and Kim for putting such an effort into detailing the how-to with the handouts and providing a thoughtful perspective on the business use. We're lucky to have these meetings at the Cable Center. Thank you Steve for always making the space comfortable and available for us.

Thanks Bruce and Kimberly for the great session about Fabrik last night! I learned a lot, your interactive approach was perfect and your thorough handouts were a real bonus. The meeting went long but that's because of all the interest and questions, and the proof of it was in how many people stayed to keep getting as much as we could. It also great to see a number of new folks there too!

Thanks Cliff for your time and effort to plan and coordinate our meetings, and thanks Steven for making it possible for us to continue meeting at such a great location there at the Cable Center!

Our website needs to incorporate our membership database (not user), newsletter subscriber and conference registrations (non-members and members). All managed by a Membership Coordinator, preferably through the front end. Looking for a freelance contractor to incorporate our needs into our present Joomla (3.2) website and also provide web design and technical support to our membership and technical editor. Desktop hardware and software abilities would be a plus.
