Event: Wild Basin Preserve Hike
Description: Join Mosaic for a 2 to 2-1/2 mile walk through Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve. We will likely schedule a guided walk for 10:30, so arrive a few minutes early to be sure you don't miss the group. The walk lasts until about 12:30 p.m. Explore the different trails of Wild Basin. This two-hour hike is a great introduction to the Preserve and the Hill Country. Learn about the plants, animals, and geology of the area. Weather permitting.
Wild Basin was founded in 1974 to protect 227 acres of pristine Texas Hill Country and to provide nature education programs. Visitors enjoy 2-1/2 miles of hiking trails that pass through woodland, grassland, and streamside habitats. These habitats are home to threatened and endangered species, and hundreds of native plants, animals and birds. Accessible every day from light to dark. To avoid disturbing the native wildlife, no pets are allowed.
After the walk: Meet for lunch at Waterloo Ice House (6203 N. Capital of Texas Hwy - 78731).
