Eco-Somatics Workshop with Robert Bettmann
- Have you ever thought about how your body connects you to the natural world? Come to this introductory workshop in Eco-Somatics taught by Robert Bettmann, dancer, choreographer, and author of the book Somatic Ecology.

Robert Bettmann graduated with BA in Environmental Studies from Oberlin College. While at Oberlin he got into dance, and following graduation spent a year on scholarship at the Alvin Ailey School. For the last decade he has danced for his own company and others, touring nationally and internationally, and in 2004 received his Masters in Dance. His MA thesis, exploring the history of the human body and connection to environmental ethics, was published as a book by Verlag in 2009.
He has presented on Eco-Somatics in public and university workshops, including at Conecticut College as part of CITE, and at Virginia Tech as part of a Human Body in Architecture class. In December 2011 Robert joined colleague Lori Teague (Emory University) at an Artist Residency in Costa Rica, and wrote about the experience for Conscious Dancer magazine.
Robert believes that reconnecting to our animal experience is a key to our humanity as individuals, and our sustainability as a culture.
